ISLAMABAD — NADRA has officially launched “Pak-Identity 2.0,” an AI-integrated digital wallet that eliminates the need for physical CNICs for most government and private services. This new system allows citizens to store their ID, driving license, and educational degrees in a secure, encrypted mobile app. The AI component includes advanced facial recognition to prevent identity theft and “deepfake” fraud.
This move is part of the “Digital Pakistan” vision and is expected to save the government billions in card printing costs. Starting next month, all major banks and airports will accept this digital ID for verification. Experts believe this will significantly speed up the “Know Your Customer” (KYC) process for freelancers and digital entrepreneurs, making it easier to open international payment accounts.
