Google to Open Pakistan Office in July 2026

In a productive meeting with Karan Bhatia (VP, Google), the Finance Minister discussed the integration of AI across key sectors:
- Infrastructure: Google confirmed its decision to open an official office in Pakistan in July 2026.
- Local Assembly: The Minister commended the local assembly of Google Chromebooks within the country.
- AI Development: Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to promoting AI in agriculture and manufacturing through specialized training programs.
Mastercard: Strengthening the Fintech Ecosystem

Aurangzeb also met with Tucker Foote (Chief of Global Affairs, Mastercard) to discuss the future of digital payments:
- Financial Inclusion: Focused on fostering innovation within Pakistan’s fintech landscape and securing digital economies.

MIGA Proposes $500M Trade Finance Facility

During talks with Tsutomu Yamamoto (MD, MIGA), the Minister welcomed a proposed $500 million short-term facility:
- Critical Imports: The facility is designed to finance essential imports, including food, fertilizer, energy, and machinery.
- Investor Confidence: The Minister requested expedited progress on the facility while expressing confidence in MIGA’s role in resolving ongoing arbitration matters.
