ISLAMABAD / DUSHANBE — Moving closer to stabilizing regional power connectivity, Pakistan and Tajikistan have officially agreed to call a high-level Joint Working Group session in Istanbul later this month to iron out remaining commercial terms for the Central Asia-South Asia (CASA-1000) electricity transmission project. The breakthrough consensus was reached at the conclusion of the 8th session of the Joint Commission on Trade, Economic, and Scientific-Technical Cooperation in Dushanbe, co-chaired by Power Minister Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari. Alongside finalizing the electricity network grid, Tajikistan expressed strong interest in inviting Oil and Gas Development Company Ltd (OGDCL) and Pakistan Petroleum Ltd (PPL) to explore cross-border energy upstream concessions.
