Pakistan’s position in the 2025 Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) has improved slightly, with the country now ranking 136th out of 182 nations. Its overall score rose to 28 from 27 in 2024, showing a modest improvement in how corruption is perceived in the public sector.
The CPI, published by Transparency International, measures perceived levels of public‑sector corruption on a scale from 0 (highly corrupt) to 100 (very clean). Denmark topped the index again, while around 68% of countries scored below 50, highlighting that corruption remains a widespread global challenge.
Experts say that Pakistan’s slight progress reflects ongoing governance and institutional reforms, but sustained policy efforts and accountability mechanisms are needed to achieve deeper improvements over time.
