he Punjab government has appointed Ali Mustafa Dar as Adviser to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for Artificial Intelligence and Special Initiatives, creating a dedicated role to drive technology-led reforms and innovation projects across the province.
In this capacity, Ali will focus on enhancing governance, creating employment opportunities, and improving public service delivery through AI-powered solutions and forward-thinking initiatives. As an adviser, he holds the status of a provincial cabinet minister and participates in Assembly sessions as per legal provisions.
Ali’s background combines academic excellence and global experience. He earned a degree in Software Engineering from University College London (UCL) and the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST), after completing his early education at Aitchison College, Lahore. He spent over two decades working internationally before returning to Pakistan to contribute to national development.
He has been actively involved in facilitating international investment and collaborations, leveraging his extensive professional network to bring business and technology leaders to Pakistan. Beyond his professional work, Ali is a dedicated advocate for autism awareness, inspired by his personal experience as the father of a son with autism.
Previously, he was the founder and CEO of HDS Group of Companies, a UAE-based conglomerate focused on real estate, which is now managed by his brother, Hasnain Dar. Ali is married to Asma Nawaz Sharif, daughter of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and sister of CM Maryam Nawaz, and is the eldest son of Senator Ishaq Dar, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister.
With this new role, Ali Mustafa Dar is set to lead Punjab’s AI and technology initiatives, combining his global expertise and personal commitment to innovation and public service.
