The federal government is reportedly considering the possibility of enforcing Governor’s Rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) as security-related and administrative challenges continue to intensify across the province.
Law Minister Barrister Aqeel Malik stated that growing issues along the borders and the deteriorating law-and-order situation have compelled the government to explore stronger administrative options.
Sources reveal that the primary objective behind imposing Governor’s Rule would be to restore stability, strengthen coordination among institutions, and ensure smooth execution of security operations. Officials believe that a more robust administrative structure could help the province respond more effectively to ongoing threats.
Reports also indicate that the federal government is reviewing potential changes in the governor’s office. KPK Governor Faisal Karim Kundi may be replaced, and five names are currently under consideration, including three political personalities and two retired military officials. Consultations are underway, and no final decision has yet been reached.
KPK has remained under heightened scrutiny in recent weeks due to recurring security incidents in sensitive regions. Authorities continue to assess all possible steps to safeguard citizens and maintain order in the province.
